On May 23, 2011, sources say that two teens have been arrested in connection to a traffic wreck that killed a 16-year old teen in Beaumont, Texas. Reportedly, the student was partially ejected from a Cadillac Escalade and decapitated by a wire after the SUV she was riding in wrecked at 5th and South Street. Police say the 19 year old driver of the Escalade went several blocks with the teen’s body hanging out and then dumped her and her 14 year-old sister at 4th and Angelina Street before fleeing. Authorities say the driver of the Escalade is being charged with manslaughter.
Three Wrecks on U.S. 69 Send Four People to Hospital
On May 17, 2011, Beaumont authorities say three wrecks on U.S. 69 sent four people to the hospital. Sources say the fire department was called to respond to the initial wreck around 5:26 p.m. and then received word of two more accidents shortly after. Reportedly, two of the accidents involved motorcycles and the other required that someone to be extricated from the vehicle.
Motorcyclist Killed in Beaumont Accident
On April 16, 2011, Beaumont authorities said a 63 year-old man from China was killed after a motorcycle accident in Beaumont. Reportedly, a 22 year-old driver of a 1990 Chevrolet pickup ran out of gas and left the truck stopped in an inside lane of the I-10 exit ramp to College Street. Beaumont authorities said the man was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle and took the ramp when he crashed into the right rear of the pickup truck. Reportedly, the motorcycle went down and slid south, coming to rest in the middle and outside lanes. Beaumont authorities say the man died at the scene.
Man Hit by Vehicle After Collision in Beaumont
On March 2, 2011, sources say a man was killed after being ejected from his pickup and then being hit by a vehicle in Beaumont, Texas. Reportedly, the incident happened on East Interstate 10 near Martin Luther King Parkway.
Beaumont police say the driver of a gray GMS Sierra pickup truck with Florida license plates was traveling eastbound on the interstate and hit the outside guardrail and then inside guardrail. Reportedly, the driver was thrown from the pickup into the westbound lanes of traffic where he was hit by an unknown vehicle. Sources say the man was the only person in the pickup.
Lumberton Man Will Live After Serious Car Accident On Eastex Freeway
On February 27, 2011, Beaumont police say a Lumberton man was left in critical condition following a serious accident on the Eastex Freeway. Reportedly, early in the morning a 1999 Ford Contour was traveling northbound on Eastex Freeway by the LNVA canal at excessive speeds when it attempted to change lanes and pass a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. Beaumont police say the driver then lost control of his vehicle and wrecked. Sources say the Lumberton man is expected to live and the other two individuals involved were also transported to the hospital.
Woman Dies in Beaumont Car Fire
On February 20, 2011, a woman was killed by a car fire at the intersection of Evangeline and Heritage in Beaumont, Texas. Unconfirmed reports say the 25 year-old woman was a second year law student at the University of Texas who was in town for a wedding. Beaumont police say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Reportedly, the woman had left the house and was half a block away when her car caught fire. EMS officials say when they arrived at the scene the car was engulfed in flames. Authorities say the woman was the only person in the vehicle and the fire may have been an accident.
