On February 26, 2012, Stafford authorities say two people died after their car ran head-first into a Jeep traveling the wrong way on the freeway. Reportedly, the accident happened early Sunday morning in the Stafford area. Officials say the two people in the car were pronounced dead on arrival after the collision. Officials say alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
Slick Roads Cause 7 Car Pileup In West Houston
On February 28, 2012, Houston authorities say slick roads and thick fog were believed to be the cause of a seven-car pileup in west Houston. According to investigators, a woman was driving to work in the southbound lanes of the 4400 block of North Eldridge Parkway near Patterson when she lost control of her vehicle. Sources say her car then swerved into the northbound lanes, hit a vehicle and swerved back into the southbound lanes, where she was struck by a vehicle driven by her husband, who was following her. According to reports, the woman’s husband said he was on the phone with his wife, trying to help her avoid an earlier accident. However, when she took a curve too tightly, he said she slammed into a red Toyota SUV. Houston authorities say that a total of seven cars wrecked in the chain reaction.
1 Year-Old Dies in Teen Single Car Collision in Port Arthur
On February 24, 2012, Port Arthur authorities say a 1 year-old child was killed in a single car collision on Spur 93 in Port Arthur, Texas. According to the highway patrol, an 18-year-old driver was traveling North bound on Spur 93 and West Port Arthur Road when she traveled across the
lanes and struck a concrete barrier. Sources say there were two other 17 and 18 year old passengers in the car that received injuries. Reportedly, the child was not sitting in a child safety seat, but it’s unknown at this time if she was wearing a seat belt.
Passengers Trapped After Head-On Collision in Northwest Harris County
On February 28, 2012, Harris County authorities say three people who were trapped in vehicles following a head on collision in northwest Harris County had to be saved by emergency personal. Reportedly, a Toyota was traveling eastbound on West Little York when the driver attempted to turn left on Mickendree Park, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. Sources say the Toyota then collided with a pickup truck traveling the opposite direction. Authorities say two people were trapped in the Toyota and one person was trapped in the truck.
3 Injured In Port Arthur Motorcycle Collision
On February 11, 2012, Port Arthur authorities say three people were injured in a traffic wreck involving motorcycles. Sources say two motorcyclists were southbound in the 6500 block of W. Port Arthur Road when a northbound car turned into their path. Witnesses say the riders tried unsuccessfully to avoid collision, striking the car broadside.
Head on Collision in Northwest Houston
On September 29, 2011, a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Houston. Investigators say the driver of a Toyota Camry was traveling on state Highway 6 and tried to turn onto Groschke Road when a Nissan Altima hit the Camry head-on. Investigators say the driver of the Altima was pinned in his car after the collision. Authorities say the driver of the Camry ran from the scene.
Houston Man Pushing Truck Hit by Drunk Driver
On May 23, 2011, Houston police say a man was pushing his car on Chimney Rock Road near the Westpark Tollway when he was hit by a SUV and pinned between two vehicles. Reportedly, the vehicle which struck the man was a Toyota 4Runner. Witnesses say the man was pushing his truck which had run out of gas. Witnesses also say the 4Runner was traveling about 60 miles per hour when it stuck the man. Reportedly, the victim was taken to the hospital and his condition has not been released.
Houston authorities say the driver of the 4Runner was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and render aid.
Two Men Dead After Violent Car Crash Near Atascocita
On April 27, 2011, Harris County authorities say two men died in a violent car crash at the 2200 block of F.M. 1960 near Atascocita. Investigators say the men were headed east bound in a Acura 3.5RL when the driver lost control. Reportedly, the car crashed into a concrete culvert and the car rotated and rolled into a parking lot where it hit a metal pole and went airborne. Sources say the car then hit a wooden metal utility pole and landed on a U-Haul car trailer. Authorities say when they arrived at the scene they found only one man lying outside of the car and there were no indications anyone else was inside the vehicle. Sources say around 13 hours later the father of the other man went to search the scene after suspecting his son might have been involved in the crash. Authorities say that father found his sons body in a highly wooded area just east of the crash scene.
Houston Driver Charged With Death of Passenger After Car Wreck
On April 24, 2011, Harris County authorities say a driver was charged with the death of his passenger after a wreck near Houston at the 6900 block of East Sam Houston Parkway. Reportedly, the driver was speeding and lost control when he tried to exit and crashed into a retaining wall. Authorities say the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Harris County authorities say the man was charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
Intoxicated Driver Injures Houston Woman After Gulf Freeway Crash
On April 21, 2011, Houston police say a man was arrested after suspected intoxication when he critically injured a woman in a collision on the Gulf Freeway at Joplin. Reportedly, the man was in a yellow pickup truck and travelling at a high rate of speed when he slammed into the back of the Toyota Rav 4 with two women inside. Investigators say the collision caused the driver to lose control of her car and slam into and then fly over the outside retaining wall, causing the car to flip several times. Houston police say the woman riding as a passenger was ejected from the car and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Sources say the woman who was driving sustained only minor injuries. Reportedly, the man driving the pickup was not injured.
