Motorcyclist Killed After Head-On Collision In Harris County

On February 23, 2011, Harris County authorities say a motorcyclist has died in a wreck after a truck crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into him in east Harris County.  Sources say the crash took place on the 3900 block of FM 1942.  Harris County authorities say the motorcyclist was driving a 2003 black Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on FM 1942 when Honeycutt who was driving a 1993 green Chevrolet pickup westbound on the road crossed the center stripe and hit the motorcycle. Reportedly, the truck also slammed into a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis that was traveling eastbound on FM 1942 behind the motorcycle

 

Port Arthur Man Involved in Motorcycle Collision

On July 15, 2011, Port Arthur police say a 35 year-old man was involved in a collision with a vehicle as he was riding his motorcycle in Port Arthur, Texas.  Reportedly, the man’s motorcycle collided with a car after the car failed to yield the right of way as the vehicles traveled in opposite directions in the 200 block of West Gulfway Drive.  Sources say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet but survived.

4 Motorcyclists Die After Head On Collision Near Canton

On July 3, 2011, Texas DPS reports that a Houston man is being held responsible after his Mustang swerved into oncoming traffic on a highway and killed four people near Canton, Texas.  Sources say the four individuals killed in the collision were riding motorcycles.  Reportedly, after the Mustang swerved into opposing traffic it hit the motorcycles head on. Witnesses also say that the Mustang was swerving prior to crossing into the oncoming traffic. Sources say after the collision the Mustang burst into flames.  Investigators say the driver of the Mustang did not test positive for any drug or alcohol use.  

Three Wrecks on U.S. 69 Send Four People to Hospital

On May 17, 2011, Beaumont authorities say three wrecks on U.S. 69 sent four people to the hospital.  Sources say the fire department was called to respond to the initial wreck around 5:26 p.m. and then received word of two more accidents shortly after.  Reportedly, two of the accidents involved motorcycles and the other required that someone to be extricated from the vehicle.

Motorcyclist Killed in Beaumont Accident

On April 16, 2011, Beaumont authorities said a 63 year-old man from China was killed after a motorcycle accident in Beaumont. Reportedly, a 22 year-old driver of a 1990 Chevrolet pickup ran out of gas and left the truck stopped in an inside lane of the I-10 exit ramp to College Street.  Beaumont authorities said the man was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle and took the ramp when he crashed into the right rear of the pickup truck.  Reportedly, the motorcycle went down and slid south, coming to rest in the middle and outside lanes.  Beaumont authorities say the man died at the scene.

Motorcyclist Killed by Drunk Driver Near Houston

On April 10, 2011, Harris County authorities say a 39 year old man died in a motorcycle accident early in the morning. Reportedly, the man was riding his motorcycle westbound on the 400 block of Rankin Road when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on Rankin Road made a left turn in front of him. Investigators say the man tried to stop his motorcycle but there was not enough time and he hit the pickup which ejected him from his motorcycle. Authorities say the motorcyclist died at the scene.

Harris County authorities say the driver of the Silverado did not stop to help the motorcyclist.  However, sources say he was found a short time later and his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit.  Reportedly, the driver of the Silverado was arrested on intoxicated manslaughter charges.

Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash In Harris County

On March 27, 2011, authorities say a man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle into a guard rail in Harris County, Texas. Reportedly, the man was riding a 2000 Honda Shadow in the 7400 block of Spur 330. Investigators say he ended up on the shoulder and hit the guard rail and died at the scene. Sources say the cause of the car wreck is still under investigation.

Galveston Firefighter Killed after Motorcycle Collision

On February 27, 2011, Galveston authorities say charges will be filed against a 17 year-old Bellaire teenager after a collision which killed a volunteer firefighter. Reportedly, the teenager was intoxicated and celebrating Mardi Gras in Galveston when he made a U-turn in his pickup on Seawall Boulevard near 83rd Street. Sources say the pickup then collided with a motorcycle driven by the firefighter. Reportedly, the motorcyclist passed away at the scene.
