On May 11, 2011, officials say a truck attempting to deliver canned food to a prison was hit by a train in Sugar Land. Reportedly, the accident took place near the Texas Department of Criminal Justice by Circle Drive at Highway 90. Sources say the truck was hit as it was turning into the TDCJ unit. Witnesses say the train continued for nearly 100 yards before stopping and still had a piece of the trucks trailer attached. Authorities say no injuries were reported.
Train Hits BMW in Northwest Harris Co.
On March 15, 2011, sources say a BMW was hit by a train in northwest Harris County. Reportedly, the accident happened on Root and Lenze. Sources say the woman driving the car accidently went off the front edge of the track and the wheels to the car got stuck. Reportedly, the woman driving the car jumped out and began waving at the train to try and stop it. However, the woman’s efforts were to no avail and the train hit the car and spun it around.
