4 Deaths After Head-On Auto Collision In East Texas

On June 27, 2011, DPS officials say four people, including two 12-year old children, were killed in a head-on collision in East Texas.  Sources say the children were riding with an adult inside a SUV headed north on U.S. 79 when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic.  DPS says the SUV then struck a pickup which was carrying five people.  Authorities say the driver of the SUV and one passenger in the pickup also died from their injuries.

 

Two Young Children Killed After Beltway Car Accident

On May 29, 2011, Harris County authorities say two young children were killed during a car accident on the Beltway feeder road near Garret.  Reportedly, the 3 year-old and 8 month-old girls were thrown from a Chevy Suburban after it collided with a 71 year-old man driving a Chevy pickup.  Reportedly, there were 12 children in the Suburban when the collision occurred.  Sources say that traffic lights at the intersection of the collision were not working at the time the incident occurred.  Authorities say it did not appear that either vehicle had been speeding and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Motorist Killed by Drunk Driver in West Houston

On May 28, 2011, Houston investigators say a 22 year-old man may be charged with intoxicated manslaughter after running a red light and striking another vehicle at Harwin and Beltway 8 in far west Houston.  According to reports, the man was traveling southbound on Beltway 8 in silver Volkswagen Golf when he ran the red light at Harwin.  Witnesses say the Golf then collided with a black Ford Mustang headed eastbound.  Houston authorities reported the driver of the black Mustang died at the scene.  Witnesses say officers arrested the 22 year-old driver of the Golf after he tried to run away on foot.

Houston Driver Charged With Death of Passenger After Car Wreck

On April 24, 2011, Harris County authorities say a driver was charged with the death of his passenger after a wreck near Houston at the 6900 block of East Sam Houston Parkway.  Reportedly, the driver was speeding and lost control when he tried to exit and crashed into a retaining wall.  Authorities say the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.  Harris County authorities say the man was charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

Motorcyclist Killed by Drunk Driver Near Houston

On April 10, 2011, Harris County authorities say a 39 year old man died in a motorcycle accident early in the morning. Reportedly, the man was riding his motorcycle westbound on the 400 block of Rankin Road when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on Rankin Road made a left turn in front of him. Investigators say the man tried to stop his motorcycle but there was not enough time and he hit the pickup which ejected him from his motorcycle. Authorities say the motorcyclist died at the scene.

Harris County authorities say the driver of the Silverado did not stop to help the motorcyclist.  However, sources say he was found a short time later and his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit.  Reportedly, the driver of the Silverado was arrested on intoxicated manslaughter charges.

Houston Woman Dies After Truck Runs Red Light

On February 16, 2011, a woman was killed when a driver ran a red light and hit the vehicle she was riding in. Houston police say the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck ran the light at the intersection of Crestmont Street and the South Loop about 3:10 p.m.

Investigators say that the pickup truck hit a Toyota 4Runner which caused the female passenger to be thrown from the vehicle. The 56 year-old passenger was taken to the hospital where it was reported that she died as a result of her injuries.
